Edinburgh, Scotland: home to rolling grass hills and an ancient city that feels like you've traveled back in time. With endless amounts of whiskey bars and world-renowned restaurants, there's something for every one to enjoy. This city holds the world's largest arts fest every August but the other 11 months of the year are jammed packed with things to do too. U.S. News & World Report Travel gives us a list of the top 10 attractions to experience in Edinburgh.
1. Arthur's Seat- Get the best panoramic views in the entire city from 800 feet above sea level. The hike up is pretty strenuous so keep in mind to wear comfortable athletic clothing. Once at the top, every ounce of sweat will be worth

2. Edinburgh Castle- Located at the top of the city, the castle is one of Scotland's most famous attractions. Visit the former home of multiple royals and the Scottish crown jewels while enjoying stunning views of the town below. The castle also housed military prisoners of war in haunting dungeons that can now be toured. Price of admission might be high but audio tour and walking tours are included.

3. The Royal Mile- Starting at the castle, the Royal Mile is one of Old Town Edinburgh's biggest street for shopping, eating and entertainment. Prepare for large crowds since this street is jam packed with all must-see things this city has to offer. There are plenty of bus tour that take you right up to the top of the street which lets you shop your way all the way down.
4. The Scotch Whiskey Experience- Any whiskey lovers out there, or people who are looking to broaden their horizons, can't miss the Scotch Whiskey Experience, located on the Royal Mile. There's a wide variety of priced tours that offer different parts of the tour. For those who just want to taste whiskey, there's a restaurant on site.
This are just a few of the attractions on U.S. News and World Report Travel's list. I've personally done of all the ones listed above and highly recommend them to everyone who plans to visit Edinburgh, even just for a day. Enjoy your stay in the Scottish capital and experience all this city has to offer.
